FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Novel “Little Stars” Illuminates the Quiet Heroism of Everyday Life

Melrose, Minnesota –
Author Jan Lefebvre is proud to announce the release of her latest novel, Little Stars—a tender, evocative story that celebrates the unsung heroes who light up our lives with quiet acts of decency and kindness.

Set in 1970s central Minnesota, Little Stars follows Sal Schmidt, a reserved maintenance worker whose life is transformed when an unexpected moment of heroism thrusts him into the local spotlight. As Sal grapples with the painful shadows of his past and the challenges of caring for his mentally ill brother, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that reconnects him with the warmth and resilience of his community.

Inspired by the stories of her father and his beloved bachelor brothers, Lefebvre draws on family lore—from tales of moonshine runs in Melrose to the unspoken lessons of moral courage learned at home—to craft a narrative that honors the everyday champions often overlooked in our society.

“Like Lorna Landvik and J. Ryan Stradal, Jan Lefebvre has a wonderful ear for the cadence of Midwestern life, and an appreciation for the small moments between us that are so much bigger,” said Shannon Olson, author of Welcome to My Planet: Where English Is Sometimes Spoken and Children of God Go Bowling. “There’s heartbreak in this book, but also so much good humor, and hope. In the end, Little Stars is a plea for compassion and kindness in this world, and we need it.”

Little Stars challenges contemporary culture’s obsession with fame and superficiality, urging readers to celebrate authenticity and the inherent value of genuine, everyday decency. In a time when social media often elevates image over integrity, Lefebvre’s novel is a reminder of the transformative power of real human connection.
